Most hardcore makeup lovers can’t get enough of blush but it seems that a lot of dark skin divas aren’t convinced that blush is where it’s at. I get it. Finding the perfect blush to compliment brown skin can be tricky. A lot of brands cater to lighter skin tones with pale pinks and corals that look ashy and washed out on brown skin. All hope isn’t lost though! Some brands create blushes with all skin tones in mind. Like NARS. NARS is king when it comes to high end blushes for brown skin because there’s a huge color range with shades that are designed to give us brown skin beauties the perfect flush.
My all time favorite blush is Lovejoy, a bronzed rosey brown with fine golden shimmer. Lovejoy has been my go to everyday blush for years now as it looks super natural on my brown skin adding a soft bronzed flush of color and subtle golden sheen. I love how Lovejoy adds warmth and life to my complexion without giving off too much color. I can layer on Lovejoy and be as heavy handed as I want without fear of clown cheeks. It’s a dark skin divas dream!
Lovejoy has a dense, dry texture that feels a bit stiff in the pan but still adheres to skin and applies well with moderate pigmentation. Lovejoy isn’t necessarily sheer but it’s not super pigmented either so you can control how much color and shimmer you want. Thanks to the drier texture, Lovejoy isn’t powdery so you don’t have to worry about wasting a bunch of product every time you swirl your blush. Plus, the drier formula helps Lovejoy adhere to all skin types well (even oily skin) without fading much throughout the day. Lovejoy hangs on for around 8-9 hours on my dry skin before showing some slight signs of fading–even in the summer. If I had to choose just one blush to wear for the rest of my days it would hands down be NARS Lovejoy. It was made for us dark skin divas!
